Mary K. O’Melveny

 

 

Mary K. O’Melveny began writing poetry after retiring as a a labor rights lawyer.  She lives with her wife Susan in Washington DC and Woodstock NY.  Her poems have appeared in many print and on-line literary journals, including Slippery Elm (2017).  Her poetry is also featured on blog sites such as Writing in a Woman’s Voice and The New Verse News.

She won the 2017 Raynes Poetry Competition and was a Finalist for the 2018 Tom Reid/Margaret Howard Poetry Competition sponsored by Winning Writers, among other awards.

Mary’s poetry chapbook, A Woman of a Certain Age, was published by Finishing Line Press in September 2018.  Mary is a co-author of the anthology, An Apple In Her Hand, featuring work by members of the Hudson Valley Women’s Writing Group which was published by Codhill Press in January, 2019.  She is currently working on a poetry collection, Merging Star Hypotheses.
